The dates that matter

  1. November 9, 2026Bill pre-filing opens for the 90th Legislature.
  2. January 12, 2027Session convenes.
  3. March 12, 2027Last day to file bills.
  4. September 1, 2027Effective date. Applies to all new contracts and all decisions made under any contract from this day forward.
  5. September 1, 2028Sitting medical directors must qualify and be confirmed. Physician-present ER rule takes effect.
  6. September 1, 2029All hospital physician-coverage contracts must comply (or at next renewal, if sooner).
  7. September 1, 2030All pre-existing management company arrangements must comply.
